She also has a documentation tag on the back corner which gives the name of the quilt, the maker, the location, the date, and the fabric content as well as a note “made in the USA.”

A Fresh quilt from the book Simply Retro using classic blocks – the half square triangle. The concept of “retro” is pretty wonderful; it means “reminiscent of things past.” Isn’t that appropriate for quilting? Here C Jean Horst is using fresh, modern fabrics and it makes a traditional block feel “new” again. This quilt called Fresh is one of my favorites from the book Simply Retro with Camille Roskelley. It includes 2 pieced and hand quilted Pillow Shams as show in the photographs. The feather quilted circles in the quilt accent well with the straight line quilting designs through the blocks making it a very homey and cozy quilt for a good looking bedroom. Fabrics are all 100% cotton.

Note the care taken with the complicated piecing beginning my sewing strips into panels and then cutting across the previous seams to sew vertical rows. Here is a quilt that needs thinking twice and cutting once! Both pieced and quilted by an Amish friend and signed by C Jean Horst.
