Mid-western Amish quilt-makers used a lot of black in their pre-1940 quilts.  This quilt is a good example of that—black baskets that complement the bright, colorful solids of the “flowers.”  The shade of blue as the background fabric was an excellent choice. Also, the outer black border nicely frames the beautiful interior. This quilt would be serve equally well as a wall-hanging as well as a bed cover.
