Lovely and sophisticated! Superb fabrics with an unusual design. Very well made! Lots of care taken with the piecing and fine quilting by a Lancaster County Amish woman who is a friend of Hannah.  Folklore suggests that this beautiful quilt pattern describes the journey of those seeking to escape slavery by traveling to the northern states and beyond into Canada.

The back of the quilt is covered with a black and grey floral 100% cotton fabric. The quilting density is good, averaging about 100 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The hand quilting is wonderful with 8 tiny stitches per inch.
