The Dresden plate pattern is a beloved favorite among quilt lovers and it’s a great way to use up those scraps that quilters have too many of. Karel chose a basket of flowers and used a combination of wool appliqué with traditional appliqué in the central quilt block. The triple border with small 9-patches in each of the corners highlights each block beautifully. There’s plenty of hand-quilting to be seen in the surrounding background triangles. The floral border fabric completes the look of this wonderful quilt.
A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    Sawtooth stars  with cornerstone blocks have been set on point to create this patriotic small quilt. Notice the gold hand-appliqué stars along with Old Glory that have been used around the outside set-in triangles. The finishing touch is the red “thank you” blocks in each corner making this a wonderful quilt for someone who has served our country. Outside red corner squares have the words “Old Glory” written on it. The whimsical striped binding gives it an extra flair and echos all the colors in the center of the quilt.     The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality and is the central design in this  warm, small quilt.  The  traditional log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s and the clever placement of light and dark logs creates a pleasing background for the primitive stars that surround the pineapple.  Small civil war prints have been used in the 1″ wide logs for a cozy, country feel.  The more fabrics in a quilt the better Karel likes it and this one was fun to sew. The hand quilting is especially fine along with precise appliqué  making this quilt a lovely addition to any home.
