Dimensions: 39 inches wide by 39 inches long

This delightful quilt came about as a result of Karel’s love of Dresden Plates, and star blocks. The floral wreath in the center has been surrounded with appliquéd Dresden Plates and 8-pointed stars with a flower in the center. For added interest Karel chose to use different fabrics in the sashing surrounding the blocks for a scrappy look. The red border chosen frames the blocks just right. The hand work on this quilt is expertly done from the hand applique to the hand quilting.

Karel’s signature patch and a hanging sleeve are included on the back of the quilt.

An enchanting  flower garden featuring 5 zinnias is the theme of this original small quilt by Karel. The design was inspired by a memory of the colorful, long row of Zinnias that her Grandma planted in her garden each summer.  It features 5 Dresden plates in 3 different sizes with wool for each of their centers.  Special attention to detail went into the hand embroidery in each flower with handmade stems and leaves in green plaids and florals.  Buds, a butterfly and a bumble bee  play among friendship stars in the neutral background blocks and a tan floral border was chosen to frame the quilt perfectly and contrasts with the multi colored inner border.

A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch is included on the back of the quilt.

Who doesn’t love a cute birdhouse in the summertime? A black eyed susan vine climbs up the post of this birdhouse while a white sheep stands along side.  Notice the sweet little heart being held in the sheep’s mouth and the butterfly that is flying in the center of the quilt.  The scrolling quilting design in the border seems to echo the climbing vine for a nice finish of this quilt.   Precise hand appliqué has been combined with the patchwork blocks in this lovely piece.
