Red, White, and blues in charming paisleys, stripes and floral fabrics are used for the log cabin blocks in this lovely small quilt. The placement of light and darks are artfully arranged to create the perfect frame for the hand-appliquéd blocks. Tulips and buds along with flowers have been used, note the outside flower centers have been fussy cut so a small star is in the circle. The fabric with clusters of flowers on a Swiss dot background fabric completes the look.
A hangin sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    The classic Whig Rose appliqué block has been used along with the 8-pointed star block in this design.  The clever placement of light and dark fabrics have created a unique, secondary border design that flows around the blocks .  A lovely floral design is hand-quilted in the other 4 blocks for contrast.  New England red, hunter green, mustard and navy with a touch of black make up this classic color scheme and look wonderful next to the tan and ivory background squares.  The hand quilting is tiny and precise and the appliqué is also beautifully done.     An enchanting  flower garden featuring 5 zinnias is the theme of this original small quilt by Karel. The design was inspired by a memory of the colorful, long row of Zinnias that her Grandma planted in her garden each summer.  It features 5 Dresden plates in 3 different sizes with wool for each of their centers.  Special attention to detail went into the hand embroidery in each flower with handmade stems and leaves in green plaids and florals.  Buds, a butterfly and a bumble bee  play among friendship stars in the neutral background blocks and a tan floral border was chosen to frame the quilt perfectly and contrasts with the multi colored inner border.

    A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch is included on the back of the quilt.
