The Leymone star also known as the 8-pointed stars really shine in this scrappy sofa throw quilt. A 9-patch block has been used for its simplicity to compliment the star blocks. You can tell by lookin closely at the stars, Karel took her time to make sure each one was pieced with precision. The flower quilting design that was used in the 9-patch block is nice detail. Civil war reproduction fabrics were used with florals, Stars and Stripes. The versatility of a sofa throw means you can fold in on the back of a couch, drape it over a chair or fold it at the foot of your bed so it’s always ready to snuggle up in.
Karel’s signature patch is included on the back of the quilt.

    The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality and is the central design in this  warm, small quilt.  The  traditional log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s and the clever placement of light and dark logs creates a pleasing background for the primitive stars that surround the pineapple.  Small civil war prints have been used in the 1″ wide logs for a cozy, country feel.  The more fabrics in a quilt the better Karel likes it and this one was fun to sew.     5 Dresden plates set on point and are the focal point of this fine traditional quilt.  The Dresden plates are machine pieced and then hand appliquéd to each of the background squares.  They are surrounded by Karel’s signature triple border and corner squares.  Cross-hatching has been hand-quilted on the set in triangles to create a small diamond design.  Many different fabrics were used to create the petals on each plate which adds lots of interest.  A fabric featuring flowers in all the colors set on a back background is the perfect finish on this piece.

    A  hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature tag are included on the back of this show stopping quilt.

    Star flowers and berries seem to spring out of a red heart in the center block of Karel’s original design called Star Love. Her signature triple border and corner squares nicely frame the block.  Take note of the fine hand quilting in the triangles that form a diamond design to showcase the center and also the beautifully done hand appliqué throughout.  The star block called “Sarah’s Choice” and a variation on log cabin blocks flank each side of the star and berries border.  Karel enjoys mixing many different fabrics in her quilts to give them a “scrappy” look and this quilt is a great example of that.  A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
