Wooly sheep and saw tooth stars have been combined with a fun block called “this and that” in this original small quilt. The wool sheep are appliquéd onto the background using the button hole stitch which is all done by hand. The graceful willow tree in the center block has been created using lots of hand embroidery stitches as a sheep stands underneath holding a sweet little heart. Fabric prints were carefully selected and include stripes and small florals. Karel loves combining touches of wool fabrics along with cottons in this special quilt along with fine hand-quilting.
A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    Do you love pinwheels?  Here’s a great original design featuring pinwheels that use 8 different fabrics in them! Both the pinwheel and cornerstone blocks are set on point and the diamonds frame each pinwheel creating a great secondary design.     Patchwork Autumn is an original design by Karel and was created out of her love for the fall season. Hand appliquéd hollyhocks, flowers, a goldfinch and pumpkins are surrounded with blocks including the friendship star, pinwheel, Ohio star and churn dash to name a few. Half square triangles and hour glass blocks add to it’s charm as well.  The warm floral border fabric compliments the quilt as the flowers and leaves gently wind their way around the quilt and hand quilting is beautiful.

    A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back.

    The classic Whig Rose appliqué block has been used along with the 8-pointed star block in this design.  The clever placement of light and dark fabrics have created a unique, secondary border design that flows around the blocks .  A lovely floral design is hand-quilted in the other 4 blocks for contrast.  New England red, hunter green, mustard and navy with a touch of black make up this classic color scheme and look wonderful next to the tan and ivory background squares.  The hand quilting is tiny and precise and the appliqué is also beautifully done.
