The scrappy Star sofa throw quilt features scrappy, wonky stars with tiny 9-patches in each center. Using a mixture of light and dark neutral background squares are used for the background of each star. The appeal of a sofa throw size is the versatile ways you can use it by folding it across the foot of the bed, on the back of the couch, draped over a chair or bench all ready to cuddle up in. The workmanship in the precise piecing along with the beautiful hand quilting creates a very special quilt. A special floral print set against the blue background is the perfect frame and pulls out all the colors in the quilt.

Karel’s signature patch is included on the back of this quilt.

    Late summer is Karel’s favorite time of the year and was the inspiration for this fun small quilt.  A sunflower bud and sunflower have been created using the Dresden plate pattern, an appliquéd wool center with french knots and prairie points were added  on the flower.  A bumble bee flies happily around the flower as orange pumpkins sit underneath. The black crow perched on the pumpkin is another detail using wool appliqué.  A combination of machine pieced churn dash and 9-patches blocks were chosen to complete this quilt.  The hand appliqué and quilting  beautifully enhance the design as well.

    A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch  are included on the back.

Half square triangles, hour glass and checkerboards  add interest to this quilt.  Stars and strips are repeated both in appliqué and fabrics throughout the design.     Sawtooth stars  with cornerstone blocks have been set on point to create this patriotic small quilt. Notice the gold hand-appliqué stars along with Old Glory that have been used around the outside set-in triangles. The finishing touch is the red “thank you” blocks in each corner making this a wonderful quilt for someone who has served our country. Outside red corner squares have the words “Old Glory” written on it. The whimsical striped binding gives it an extra flair and echos all the colors in the center of the quilt.
