A classic color palette was chosen for this charming, original Starberry design. Using pieced, neutral log cabin blocks for the center background was a creative choice. Stars and berries with a center flower are beautifully appliquéd along with precise piecing done on the corner log cabin and 54-40 or fight star blocks. Hand quilted diamonds called cross-hatching has been used on the background triangles that surround the center. All the elements of this design come together in such a delightful way in this stunning quilt. A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality and is the central design in this  warm, small quilt.  The  traditional log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s and the clever placement of light and dark logs creates a pleasing background for the primitive stars that surround the pineapple.  Small civil war prints have been used in the 1″ wide logs for a cozy, country feel.  The more fabrics in a quilt the better Karel likes it and this one was fun to sew.     A whimsical pumpkin with leaves and primitive stars set on circles are in the center of log cabin blocks in this warm fall quilt.  The traditonal log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s and the clever placement of light and dark logs create a pleasing background for the appliqué.  Small 1″ logs have been used and give opportunity for many earth tone fabrics to be used which create a nice scrappy effect.  The floral border print is a perfect frame to finish the quilt and the appliqué and hand quilting are beautifully done in this fun quilt.

    Wooly sheep and saw tooth stars are combined with a fun block called “this and that” in this original small quilt.  The wool sheep are appliquéd onto the background using the button hole stitch which is all done by hand.  The graceful willow tree in the central block has been created using lots more embroidery as a sheep stands underneath holding a sweet little heart.  Fabric prints were carefully selected and includes stripes, and small florals. Karel loves combining touches of wool fabrics with 100% cottons in this special piece.  Don’t miss the fine quilting especially noticeable in the border.
