This is one of Karel’s most popular designs, the trumpet flower, and it continues to be a customer favorite. Winding trumpet flowers, vines and leaves are surrounded by small log cabin blocks and primitive stars in each of the 4 corners. Multi colored fabrics have been used in warm, country colors to give it a “scrappy” look. Karel enjoys incorporating many different fabric prints in her designs along with hand quilting and hand appliqué that are beautifully done. A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality and is the central design in this  warm, small quilt.  The  traditional log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s and the clever placement of light and dark logs creates a pleasing background for the primitive stars that surround the pineapple.  Small civil war prints have been used in the 1″ wide logs for a cozy, country feel.  The more fabrics in a quilt the better Karel likes it and this one was fun to sew.     Late summer is Karel’s favorite time of the year and was the inspiration for this fun small quilt.  A sunflower bud and sunflower have been created using the Dresden plate pattern, an appliquéd wool center with french knots and prairie points were added  on the flower.  A bumble bee flies happily around the flower as orange pumpkins sit underneath. The black crow perched on the pumpkin is another detail using wool appliqué.  A combination of machine pieced churn dash and 9-patches blocks were chosen to complete this quilt.  The hand appliqué and quilting  beautifully enhance the design as well.

    A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch  are included on the back.
