The trumpet flower was one of Karel’s first original designs and it continues to be a customer favorite. Winding trumpet flowers, vines and leaves are surrounded by small log cabin blocks and primitive stars in each of the 4 corners. Multi-colored fabrics have been used in warm, classic colors to give it a “scrappy” look. Karel enjoys incorporating many different fabric prints in her designs along with precise hand quilting and hand appliqué that are beautifully done.
A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    A graceful floral wreath is the focal point of this stunning small quilt. Tulips, buds and flowers are combined in a pleasing arrangement with corner appliqué blocks radiating out from the center design.  The ribbon star blocks make a bold statement as they frame the central wreath and next comes a checkerboard border just to set it all off.  Karel chose to use civil war reproduction quilts because the tiny prints lend themselves so well to the small appliqué pieces.  The variety of prints include stripes, florals and geometrics that add extra interest to the design.  As you can see from the border, the hand-quilting is beautiful as well.  A hanging sleeve as well as Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    Flowers and friendship stars go hand in hand along with a fabulous paisley border that was the inspiration for the color scheme in Karel’s original design.  Her signature triple border and corner squares surround her central floral design.  Note the use of just a touch of red stripped fabric that has been selected for a pop of color.   Precise hand-quilting creates a diamond design in each corner triangles.  Red, Blue and Ivory hint at classic Americana with touches of stars and stripes thrown in.

    A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
