Comin Up Sunshine is a nice variation on the Mariner’s Compass pattern.  For this quilt Karel choose to use Civil War reproduction fabrics for a vintage look.  Take note of how precisely the points and curves were pieced in this difficult pattern. The curved theme is repeated in graceful flowers that surround the center block.  The appliqué and quilting , both done by hand,  are beautifully sewn as well.  A burgundy border featuring small berries and leaves are the perfect frame for this special quilt.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

  • Here is a quilt just perfect for a smaller space in your home. The log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel's because there is no end to the ways you can lay out the blocks.  In this quilt the light logs create a great background for the appliqué pumpkins with their vines and leaves while the dark logs frame them perfectly!  1" logs have been used to create a scrappy feel and give the opportunity for many earth tone fabrics to be used.  The whimsical pumpkin fabric in the border was a great choice to finish it all off and the hand quilting and appliqué in this quilt are just beautiful! A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature tag are included on the back of the quilt.
  • Who doesn't love a cute birdhouse in the summertime? A black eyed susan vine climbs up the post of this birdhouse while a white sheep stands along side.  Notice the sweet little heart being held in the sheep's mouth and the butterfly that is flying in the center of the quilt.  The scrolling quilting design in the border seems to echo the climbing vine for a nice finish of this quilt.   Precise hand appliqué has been combined with the patchwork blocks in this lovely piece. A hanging sleeve along with Karel's signature patch is included on the back.
  • The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality and is the central design in this  warm, small quilt.  The  traditional log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel's and the clever placement of light and dark logs creates a pleasing background for the primitive stars that surround the pineapple.  Small civil war prints have been used in the 1" wide logs for a cozy, country feel.  The more fabrics in a quilt the better Karel likes it and this one was fun to sew. The hand quilting is especially fine along with precise appliqué  making this quilt a lovely addition to any home. A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature tag are included on the back.
