Five Dresden plates set on point are featured in this fine, traditional quilt. The Dresden plates are machine pieced and then hand appliqué to the background squares.  The are surrounded by Karel’s signature triple borders and corner squares as sashing.  Cross-hatching has been hand quilted on the set in triangles to create the  small diamond design.  Many different fabrics were used to create the petals on each plate which adds lots of interest. A charming floral fabric was chosen  for the border on this traditional quilt.  Look at all the beautiful quilting and superb appliqué in this one!

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch have been included on the back of the quilt.

    The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality and is the central design in this  warm, small quilt.  The  traditional log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s and the clever placement of light and dark logs creates a pleasing background for the primitive stars that surround the pineapple.  Small civil war prints have been used in the 1″ wide logs for a cozy, country feel.  The more fabrics in a quilt the better Karel likes it and this one was fun to sew.     Here is one of Karel’s classic original designs, the trumpet flower, and it has always been a customer favorite.  Winding trumpet flowers, vines and leaves are surrounded by 5″ log cabin blocks and primitive stars in each of the 4 corners.  This stunning color scheme uses shades of blues, golden tans and ivory and is sure to please anyone who loves blue.  Karel is known for incorporating many different fabrics in her quilts to add interest and texture. Don”t miss the beautiful paisley border that creates a perfect finish for this fine piece! The hand quilting and appliqué are expertly done as well.

    Late summer is Karel’s favorite time of the year and was the inspiration for this fun small quilt.  A sunflower bud and sunflower have been created using the Dresden plate pattern, an appliquéd wool center with french knots and prairie points were added  on the flower.  A bumble bee flies happily around the flower as orange pumpkins sit underneath. The black crow perched on the pumpkin is another detail using wool appliqué.  A combination of machine pieced churn dash and 9-patches blocks were chosen to complete this quilt.  The hand appliqué and quilting  beautifully enhance the design as well.
