A gracefully floral wreath is the focal point of this stunning small quilt.  Tulips, buds, and flowers have been combined in a pleasing arrangement with corner appliqué blocks radiating out from the center design.  The ribbon star blocks that surround the center maker a nice statement as they frame the wreath and are followed by a classic checkerboard border.  The variety of prints that include geometric and floral prints work together so well.  The appliqué and quilting are beautifully done by hand on this one.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    An enchanting  flower garden featuring 5 zinnias is the theme of this original small quilt by Karel. The design was inspired by a memory of the colorful, long row of Zinnias that her Grandma planted in her garden each summer.  It features 5 Dresden plates in 3 different sizes with wool for each of their centers.  Special attention to detail went into the hand embroidery in each flower with handmade stems and leaves in green plaids and florals.  Buds, a butterfly and a bumble bee  play among friendship stars in the neutral background blocks and a tan floral border was chosen to frame the quilt perfectly and contrasts with the multi colored inner border.

    Do you love pinwheels?  Here’s a great original design featuring pinwheels that use 8 different fabrics in them! Both the pinwheel and cornerstone blocks are set on point and the diamonds frame each pinwheel creating a great secondary design. Karel used a lighter background for the pinwheels and a small circle print for the other blocks to help the pinwheels stand apart.  Sweet little tulips sit in each corner while flowers fill in the triangle blocks around the edge.  The quality of the hand appliqué and quilting are easy to observe in this charming small quilt and the floral border is the prefect finish.  A hanging sleeve and Karel”s signature tag are included on the back.

A variation of the log cabin block works nicely in the corners against the stars and appliqué flowers.  Precise hand-quilting creates a diamond design in each of the triangles that surround the center, along with beautiful appliqué  and the color scheme includes, tan, red, green, and black.
