Log Cabin blocks done in half light fabrics and half dark fabrics create the background for the center circle and primitive star in this folk art inspired quilt.  Arching flowers and leaves wind around the center block with corner log cabin blocks completing this pattern.  Pinwheels and checkerboards are another pleasing element in the borders of this original design by Karel.  Fabrics were carefully selected in a nice variety of prints  that play nicely with the precise appliqué and tiny quilting stitches.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature tag are included on the back of the quilt.

    Wooly sheep and saw tooth stars are combined with a fun block called “this and that” in this original small quilt.  The wool sheep are appliquéd onto the background using the button hole stitch which is all done by hand.  The graceful willow tree in the central block has been created using lots more embroidery as a sheep stands underneath holding a sweet little heart.  Fabric prints were carefully selected and includes stripes, and small florals. Karel loves combining touches of wool fabrics with 100% cottons in this special piece.  Don’t miss the fine quilting especially noticeable in the border.

    Log cabin blocks with artfully arranged lights and darks help create the backdrop for this lovely quilt.  A charming little basket of flowers take center stage with butterflies that are flying all around the center. These  have all been carefully hand appliquéd with a touch of hand embroidery by Karel.  Multi colored classic fabrics were the choice for her color scheme.  Notice the outer border she chose incorporates all the colors found in the center of the quilt set on a classic black background. The hand quilting is beautiful and accents the design for the perfect finishing touch.

    A whimsical pumpkin with leaves and primitive stars set on circles are in the center of log cabin blocks in this warm fall quilt.  The traditonal log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s and the clever placement of light and dark logs create a pleasing background for the appliqué.  Small 1″ logs have been used and give opportunity for many earth tone fabrics to be used which create a nice scrappy effect.  The floral border print is a perfect frame to finish the quilt and the appliqué and hand quilting are beautifully done in this fun quilt.
