The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality and is the central design in this  warm, small quilt.  The  traditional log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s and the clever placement of light and dark logs creates a pleasing background for the primitive stars that surround the pineapple.  Small civil war prints have been used in the 1″ wide logs for a cozy, country feel.  The more fabrics in a quilt the better Karel likes it and this one was fun to sew. The hand quilting is especially fine along with precise appliqué  making this quilt a lovely addition to any home.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature tag are included on the back.

    Log cabin blocks with artfully arranged lights and darks help create the backdrop for this lovely quilt.  A charming little basket of flowers take center stage with butterflies that are flying all around the center. These  have all been carefully hand appliquéd with a touch of hand embroidery by Karel.  Multi colored classic fabrics were the choice for her color scheme.  Notice the outer border she chose incorporates all the colors found in the center of the quilt set on a classic black background.     Wooly sheep and saw tooth stars are combined with a fun block called “this and that” in this original small quilt.  The wool sheep are appliquéd onto the background using the button hole stitch which is all done by hand.  The graceful willow tree in the central block has been created using lots more embroidery as a sheep stands underneath holding a sweet little heart.  Fabric prints were carefully selected and includes stripes, and small florals. Karel loves combining touches of wool fabrics with 100% cottons in this special piece.  Don’t miss the fine quilting especially noticeable in the border.

    An enchanting  flower garden featuring 5 zinnias is the theme of this original small quilt by Karel. The design was inspired by a memory of the colorful, long row of Zinnias that her Grandma planted in her garden each summer.  It features 5 Dresden plates in 3 different sizes with wool for each of their centers.  Special attention to detail went into the hand embroidery in each flower with handmade stems and leaves in green plaids and florals.  Buds, a butterfly and a bumble bee  play among friendship stars in the neutral background blocks and a tan floral border was chosen to frame the quilt perfectly and contrasts with the multi colored inner border.

    A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch is included on the back of the quilt.
