Charming snowmen seem to be waving hello in Karel’s original design, Patchwork Snowman, a quilt that can be displayed from December right through till spring.  The color palette includes tan, gray and blue with backgrounds of ivory and cream that create a primitive feel to the quilt.  The hand appliqué is beautiful especially in the cutouts on the snowflake block.  The carefully pieced blocks include the friendship star, pinwheel, churn dash, Ohio star, log cabin and cornerstone with hourglass and sawtooth borders to add interest. A dark navy border features tiny stars and is a fitting frame to complete the look.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of this quilt.

    Here is a quilt just perfect for a smaller space in your home.   The log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s because there is no end to the ways you can lay out the blocks.     5 Dresden plates set on point and are the focal point of this fine traditional quilt.  The Dresden plates are machine pieced and then hand appliquéd to each of the background squares.  They are surrounded by Karel’s signature triple border and corner squares.  Cross-hatching has been hand-quilted on the set in triangles to create a small diamond design.  Many different fabrics were used to create the petals on each plate which adds lots of interest.  A fabric featuring flowers in all the colors set on a back background is the perfect finish on this piece.

    A  hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature tag are included on the back of this show stopping quilt.

    An enchanting  flower garden featuring 5 zinnias is the theme of this original small quilt by Karel. The design was inspired by a memory of the colorful, long row of Zinnias that her Grandma planted in her garden each summer.  It features 5 Dresden plates in 3 different sizes with wool for each of their centers.  Special attention to detail went into the hand embroidery in each flower with handmade stems and leaves in green plaids and florals.  Buds, a butterfly and a bumble bee  play among friendship stars in the neutral background blocks and a tan floral border was chosen to frame the quilt perfectly and contrasts with the multi colored inner border.

    A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch is included on the back of the quilt.
