Wooly Sheep and saw tooth stars are combined with a fun block called “this and that” in this original small quilt.   The wool sheep are appliquéd onto the background using the button hole stitch this is all done by hand.  The graceful willow tree in the center block has been created using lots of embroidery as the sheep stands underneath holding a sweet little heart.  Fabric prints were carefully selected and include strips and small florals.  Karel loves combining touches of wool fabrics along with cottons in this special piece.  Don”t miss the fine quilting in this piece.

A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    An enchanting  flower garden featuring 5 zinnias is the theme of this original small quilt by Karel. The design was inspired by a memory of the colorful, long row of Zinnias that her Grandma planted in her garden each summer.  It features 5 Dresden plates in 3 different sizes with wool for each of their centers.  Special attention to detail went into the hand embroidery in each flower with handmade stems and leaves in green plaids and florals.  Buds, a butterfly and a bumble bee  play among friendship stars in the neutral background blocks and a tan floral border was chosen to frame the quilt perfectly and contrasts with the multi colored inner border.

    Here is a quilt just perfect for a smaller space in your home. The log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s because there is no end to the ways you can lay out the blocks.  In this quilt the light logs create a great background for the appliqué pumpkins with their vines and leaves while the dark logs frame them perfectly!  1″ logs have been used to create a scrappy feel and give the opportunity for many earth tone fabrics to be used.  The whimsical pumpkin fabric in the border was a great choice to finish it all off and the hand quilting and appliqué in this quilt are just beautiful!

    Patchwork Autumn is an original design by Karel and was created out of her love for the fall season. Hand appliquéd hollyhocks, flowers, a goldfinch and pumpkins are surrounded with blocks including the friendship star, pinwheel, Ohio star and churn dash to name a few. Half square triangles and hour glass blocks add to it’s charm as well.  The warm floral border fabric compliments the quilt as the flowers and leaves gently wind their way around the quilt and hand quilting is beautiful.
