Patchwork Americana is a great addition to any patriotic decor.  Six patchwork blocks are arranged with the 4 appliqué blocks to create this pleasing original design.  Half square triangles, hour glass and checkerboards add interest as well.  Stars and Stripes are repeated both in appliqué and fabrics throughout this quilt.  Don”t miss the Heart block with the words “thank You” underneath that would make this the perfect gift for someone who has served our country.  A fun pieced inner border is finished off with a navy print in the outer border.  The workmanship is excellent from the quilting to the appliqué.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality and is the central design in this  warm, small quilt.  The  traditional log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s and the clever placement of light and dark logs creates a pleasing background for the primitive stars that surround the pineapple.  Small civil war prints have been used in the 1″ wide logs for a cozy, country feel.  The more fabrics in a quilt the better Karel likes it and this one was fun to sew.     A classic red and blue color palette was chosen for this charming original Strarberry design.  Using a pieced background log cabin blocks for the center adds additional interest.  Stars and berries with a central flower are beautifully appliquéd along with precise piecing on the log cabin blocks and 54-40 or fight blocks.  Hand-quilted diamonds called cross-hatching have been quilted on the tan leaf background triangles that surround the center blocks.  All elements of this design come together in such a delightful way on this classic quilt.

    Who doesn’t love a cute birdhouse in the summertime? A black eyed susan vine climbs up the post of this birdhouse while a white sheep stands along side.  Notice the sweet little heart being held in the sheep’s mouth and the butterfly that is flying in the center of the quilt.  The scrolling quilting design in the border seems to echo the climbing vine for a nice finish of this quilt.   Precise hand appliqué has been combined with the patchwork blocks in this lovely piece.
