Hollyhocks and a bluebird play nicely together with flowers and buds alongside some of Karel’s favorite pieced blocks including a log cabin, churn dash, Ohio star, and pinwheel in this original design. Hour glass, and triangle borders meander among the blocks as creative borders. The quilt uses classic colors in this attractive original design.  The lovely, green floral fabric used in the border compliments the quilt’s fabrics so well.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back

    Late summer is Karel’s favorite time of the year and was the inspiration for this fun small quilt.  A sunflower bud and sunflower have been created using the Dresden plate pattern, an appliquéd wool center with french knots and prairie points were added  on the flower.  A bumble bee flies happily around the flower as orange pumpkins sit underneath. The black crow perched on the pumpkin is another detail using wool appliqué.  A combination of machine pieced churn dash and 9-patches blocks were chosen to complete this quilt.  The hand appliqué and quilting  beautifully enhance the design as well.

    A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch  are included on the back.

    The classic Whig Rose appliqué block has been used along with the 8-pointed star block in this design.  The clever placement of light and dark fabrics have created a unique, secondary border design that flows around the blocks .  A lovely floral design is hand-quilted in the other 4 blocks for contrast.  New England red, hunter green, mustard and navy with a touch of black make up this classic color scheme and look wonderful next to the tan and ivory background squares.  The hand quilting is tiny and precise and the appliqué is also beautifully done. A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back.

    5 Dresden plates set on point and are the focal point of this fine traditional quilt.  The Dresden plates are machine pieced and then hand appliquéd to each of the background squares.  They are surrounded by Karel’s signature triple border and corner squares.  Cross-hatching has been hand-quilted on the set in triangles to create a small diamond design.  Many different fabrics were used to create the petals on each plate which adds lots of interest.  A fabric featuring flowers in all the colors set on a back background is the perfect finish on this piece.

    A  hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature tag are included on the back of this show stopping quilt.
