Karel developed a love of quilting and flowers from her maternal Grandmother and both are reflected in this new design. Five blocks set on point each feature a different type of wild flower. The flowers and leaves are done in wool appliqué and have hand embroidery details added. Each background square is a different reproduction fabric for added interest. The triple sashing surrounds the blocks with a square in square block as the cornerstones. The hand wool appliqué and quilting complete this quilt perfectly. A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    Patchwork Autumn is an original design by Karel and was created out of her love for the fall season. Hand appliquéd hollyhocks, flowers, a goldfinch and pumpkins are surrounded with blocks including the friendship star, pinwheel, Ohio star and churn dash to name a few.     Who doesn’t love a cute birdhouse in the summertime? A black eyed susan vine climbs up the post of this birdhouse while a white sheep stands along side.  Notice the sweet little heart being held in the sheep’s mouth and the butterfly that is flying in the center of the quilt.  The scrolling quilting design in the border seems to echo the climbing vine for a nice finish of this quilt.   Precise hand appliqué has been combined with the patchwork blocks in this lovely piece.

    A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch is included on the back.
