Here’s one of Karel’s classic original designs, the Trumpet Flower, and it has always been a customer favorite. Winding trumpet flowers, vines and leaves are surrounded by small log cabin  blocks and primitive stars in each of the 4 corners.  Multi colored fabrics have been used in warm, country colors that give it a “scrappy” look as well.  Karel enjoys incorporating many different fabric prints in her designs along with hand quilting and appliqué that are beautifully done.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt

    Wooly sheep and saw tooth stars are combined with a fun block called “this and that” in this original small quilt.  The wool sheep are appliquéd onto the background using the button hole stitch which is all done by hand.  The graceful willow tree in the central block has been created using lots more embroidery as a sheep stands underneath holding a sweet little heart.  Fabric prints were carefully selected and includes stripes, and small florals. Karel loves combining touches of wool fabrics with 100% cottons in this special piece.  Don’t miss the fine quilting especially noticeable in the border.

    A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back.

    Flowers and friendship stars go hand in hand along with a fabulous paisley border that was the inspiration for the color scheme in Karel’s original design.  Her signature triple border and corner squares surround her central floral design.  Note the use of just a touch of red stripped fabric that has been selected for a pop of color.   Precise hand-quilting creates a diamond design in each corner triangles.  Red, Blue and Ivory hint at classic Americana with touches of stars and stripes thrown in.

    A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    The classic Whig Rose appliqué block has been used along with the 8-pointed star block in this design.  The clever placement of light and dark fabrics have created a unique, secondary border design that flows around the blocks .  A lovely floral design is hand-quilted in the other 4 blocks for contrast.  New England red, hunter green, mustard and navy with a touch of black make up this classic color scheme and look wonderful next to the tan and ivory background squares.  The hand quilting is tiny and precise and the appliqué is also beautifully done. A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back.
