Here is one of Karel’s most popular designs, the Trumpet Flower, and it continues to be a customer favorite. Winding trumpet flowers, vines and leaves are surrounded by small log cabin blocks and primitive stars in each of the 4 corners.  Multi colored fabrics have been used in warm, country colors to give it a “scrappy” look as well.  Karel enjoys incorporating many different fabric prints in her designs along with hand quilting and hand appliqué that are beautifully done.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    Five Dresden plates set on point are the focal point of this fine traditional quilt. The Dresden plates are machine pieced and then hand appliquéd to the background squares. They are  then framed by Karel’s signature triple border and corner squares. Cross-hatching has been hand-quilted on the set-in triangles to create a beautiful diamond design.     The classic Whig Rose appliqué block has been used along with the 8-pointed star block in this design.  The clever placement of light and dark fabrics have created a unique, secondary border design that flows around the blocks .  A lovely floral design is hand-quilted in the other 4 blocks for contrast.  New England red, hunter green, mustard and navy with a touch of black make up this classic color scheme and look wonderful next to the tan and ivory background squares.  The hand quilting is tiny and precise and the appliqué is also beautifully done. A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back.

Hand appliquéd hollyhocks, flowers, a goldfinch and pumpkins are surrounded with blocks including the friendship star, pinwheel, Ohio star and churn dash to name a few. Half square triangles and hour glass blocks add to it’s charm as well.  The warm floral border fabric compliments the quilt as the flowers and leaves gently wind their way around the quilt and hand quilting is beautiful.
