Whimsical winter birds and pine boughs are the theme of this charming Log Cabin quilt. Enjoy it all winter long as many of the fabrics are winter themed with pine needles and berries to name a few.  Look closely at the details in the cardinal and chickadee which are made of wool appliqué with hand embroidered touches.  Pinecones on pine branches surround the center block and are hand embroidered as well.  The exquisite hand quilting can be seen especially well in the border and the striped binding is the perfect finish.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature tag are included on the back of the quilt.

    Here is a quilt just perfect for a smaller space in your home.     Star flowers and berries seem to spring out of a red heart in the center block of Karel’s original design called Star Love. Her signature triple border and corner squares nicely frame the block.  Take note of the fine hand quilting in the triangles that form a diamond design to showcase the center and also the beautifully done hand appliqué throughout.  The star block called “Sarah’s Choice” and a variation on log cabin blocks flank each side of the star and berries border.  Karel enjoys mixing many different fabrics in her quilts to give them a “scrappy” look and this quilt is a great example of that.  A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
