Whimsical winter birds and pine boughs are the theme of this charming Log Cabin quilt. Enjoy it all winter long as many of the fabrics are winter themed with pine needles and berries to name a few. Look closely at the details in the cardinal and chickadee which are made of wool appliqué with hand embroidered details. Pinecones on pine beaches surround the center block and are hand embroidered as well. The exquisite hand quilting can be seen especially well in the quilt’s border.
A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back.

    Sawtooth stars  with cornerstone blocks have been set on point to create this patriotic small quilt. Notice the gold hand-appliqué stars along with Old Glory that have been used around the outside set-in triangles.     Star flowers and berries seem to spring out of a red heart in the center block of Karel’s original design called Star Love. Her signature triple border and corner squares nicely frame the block.  Take note of the fine hand quilting in the triangles that form a diamond design to showcase the center and also the beautifully done hand appliqué throughout.  The star block called “Sarah’s Choice” and a variation on log cabin blocks flank each side of the star and berries border.  Karel enjoys mixing many different fabrics in her quilts to give them a “scrappy” look and this quilt is a great example of that.  A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    Flowers and friendship stars go hand in hand along with a fabulous paisley border that was the inspiration for the color scheme in Karel’s original design.  Her signature triple border and corner squares surround her central floral design.  Note the use of just a touch of red stripped fabric that has been selected for a pop of color.   Precise hand-quilting creates a diamond design in each corner triangles.  Red, Blue and Ivory hint at classic Americana with touches of stars and stripes thrown in.

    A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
