Irish Chain quilts are known to have been made in Lancaster since the early 1800’s. While this quilt doesn’t look at old fashioned, the choice of fabrics, the quilting pattern, and the border are all similar to Irish Chain Quilts made in Lancaster in the 19th and early 20th Centuries. Note the rich cream white tone on tone cotton print used for the background, and the care taken in the quilting and piecework. The ‘bed’ photo shows it on a queen size bed.
