This Cathedral Window is a gorgeous work of art done in all sage greens on white and a timeless heirloom! It captures the inspiration of a beautiful church window and allows us to relive our past grandmother’s quilts as this is a very old pattern. This is not the same as a traditional quilt as it has no batting- with so many layers of folded fabric, batting is not necessary. A very difficult and time consuming design! The backing is also white and that is part of the folded process. This Cathedral Windows are VERY well sewn by hand. . The quilt is finished beautifully with triangles on the edges. It is exceptionally heavily hand quilted with feathers – large and small, and also a charming and beautiful heavily quilted border design. The ivory background, even though it is a tiny tone on tone 100% quilter’s cotton print, shows up all the stitches and designs so nicely. While being a traditional patchwork pattern, Jean has transformed it into an heirloom quality quilt due to the exceptional yardage of hand quilting displayed and the beautiful feather designs. The backing is also 100% cotton fabric – ivory tone on tone print – so complimentary to the top fabric. Exquisite quilt.
