  • Here is a new fresh quilt rearranged into pinwheels similar to the quilt called Fresh from the book "Simply Retro". Included with the quilt are two matching pillow shams in the every popular gray white fabric combination. The concept of retro means reminiscent of things past which is so fitting with the pinwheels reminding us all of the windmills of the past generation. Here is a gentle reminder of our heritage again in a beautiful locally made hand quilted quilt. Here C Jean Horst used the fabric collections of beautiful grays and whites in 100% cottons! This quilt is a versatile size in that it can be used as a queen with shams or it can be turned the 113 width to completely cover the king bed with a 18" drop and the quilt going up to the headboard without a pillow tuck over the pillows.  The shams will fit 20 x 36 " pillows.
  • Quiltmakers: Patterns are available! The hand quilting is also done by an Amish woman.
  • This Summit Eureka is all about log cabin block variations.  Eureka Summit is a mountain pass at an elevation of 3332 ft above sea level in the state of Alaska.  But if you look at this quilt, you can see the log cabin blocks, pineapple blocks, curved log cabin blocks,  flocks of geese blocks, feathered stars and even trails and valleys and junctions.  Amazing piecing and you want to keep your head together when piecing this pattern.  And in all 100% cotton fabrics in colors of teals, blacks and grays.   This is so beautiful.  It is covered on the backing with a nice white cotton.  Hand quilting is lovely and shows the beautiful design with the white stitching on the black border.   No need to go to Alaska to see the Summit Eureka since it could be right in your bedroom!  Magnificent!
  • Cathedral window quilts have a unique and fascinating construction method, unlike any other quilt. Instead of layers of backing and batting and a pieced top, they are traditionally constructed of squares of muslin, folded into several layers and hand sewn together. On top of this base, gracefully curving bias folds are turned and stitched to make "frames" over inserts of colorful fabric "windows". This is an amazingly beautiful dimensional quilt that has been hand stitched. Because of the detail and the folding, it is not suitable for hand quilting. The layers are much to thick for that. And so the backing is also muslin that is part of the folded process. These quilts were made in the early days of quilt making in our country, but it is very unusual to find this pattern well done, hand made, and this beautiful in quilts of todays selections.
  • It's so cozy to stand indoors on a cold winter morning and view the freshly fallen snow.  This cute wall quilt will give you that feeling as you appreciate it's clever window panes and you view outside to the country setting!   This delightful barn quilt reminds me of the time my husband and I followed the quilt barn tour of West Virginia.  It's worth doing!  And a great way to see the back roads.   Many of us are acquainted with the sled with the red runners that is pictured in the quilt!  This panel was cut to sizes so that the window panes could be sewn into the design.  It is 100% cotton and hand quilted with 8 stitches per inch.  Navy backing.  A beautiful quilt with  a serene view!  Winter is coming!

  • The color, shape and the dimension in this Tumbling Block displays C Jean Horst's disciplined ability to arrange colors in a totally symmetrical way and yet produce a complex overall design. There are stars and three dimensional blocks, easy to spot with careful inspection. Also the blocks rotate around a small black star central to the quilt. The light colored top of each block moves as the blocks rotate around, forming a jagged circle. Perhaps the quilt gets its name from the multiple lines of symmetry that intersect and echo throughout, or possibly from the way the colored blocks seem to tumble out from the center black star. The quilting was done inside the blocks. Squint your eyes and enjoy a somewhat different view of this kaleidoscope of color. ! Magnificant office wall or foyer piece. 100% cotton fabrics. • Extra special work! Bargello quilts, inspired originally by a traditional needlepoint stitch, are popular as a contemporary design. Instead of embroidery stitches, simple rectangular blocks of colored fabric, which appear to gradually shift in size and placement, imitate the needlework pattern. Varying widths of pieced blocks from a 1/4 inch sliver to a sturdy 2 inch block produce a gradual wave, sloping and shifting from left to right. By selecting mutely colored fabrics, C Jean Horst shifted the colors gently. Cascading lines of fine quilting further enhance the image. Beautifully pieced and quilted with 8 stitches per inch and every row quilted. A masterpiece! The backing is a beautiful batik that matches the binding ages. A sleeve is added so that it could be hung as shown. 100% Cotton fabrics. A great size for a wall attraction.

The backing is so practical and is in a tiny print with tan background.  All fabrics are 100% cottons and the hand quilting stitches measures 8 stitcher per inch.

The back of the quilt is covered with a fine ivory tone on tone 100% cotton print that coordinates with the top of the quilt. The hand quilting density is good, averaging about 100 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The stitching is very good with about 8 stitches per inch.
  • This beautiful quilt has a very striking star in the central design and its navy and teal points in the star radiate out to give the star an almost splintered look. The fabrics are so beautiful and blend nicely with the beautiful pieced borders. Look closely and you will see that the border has borrowed 1/4 of the star parts from the center design to dance around its outside edges. Magnificent design that is simply beautiful. 100% cotton fabrics in the entire quilt. The hand-quilted stitches measure 8 stitches per inch. The backing of this quilt is also 100% cotton and is a beautiful teal floral print. Pattern design by Dolores Yoder.

  • A bold design with lovely fabrics selected by C Jean Horst. Very well pieced and be sure to note the interesting quilting surrounding the diamond. Background is cream white mottled cotton print. Made by a local Amish woman in her home. Signed and dated in ink on back by C Jean Horst. This quilt is symmetric and may be used sideways on king size bed.  The hand quilting is carefully done with 8 hand stitches per inch.  Amazing beauty. The backing of this quilt is show on the first photo with the signature corner.  It is a circular printed fabric in whites and grays.
  • Another queen original C Jean Horst design. The reality of life being pictured as a journey seemed to come together when a friend's husband passed away at an early age with cancer. The watercolor wall quilt - the Journey, was designed at that time. And now we have the full size bed quilts!! Available in queen and king size in this pattern done on a background of my favored Bargello Wave pattern design. This is a beauty of 24 100% quality cotton batiks used for the background pattern and then more added bright batiks in hand appliqué for the butterflies on the quilt top. It is a spectacular coming together of precise piecing, hand applique, and hand quilting. The hand quilting has 8-9 exceptional stitches per inch and notice the theme of butterflies quilted into the quilting design on the middle border. This is certainly an heirloom piece - not your usual quilt. The backing of this queen quilt is covered with a light batik fabric of 100% cotton to accent the front side. The documentation label is on the back corner and signed by C Jean Horst in quilter's sigma ink.
