  • This Cathedral Window is a gorgeous work of art done in all sage greens on white and a timeless heirloom! It captures the inspiration of a beautiful church window and allows us to relive our past grandmother's quilts as this is a very old pattern.  This is not the same as a traditional quilt as it has no batting- with so many layers of folded fabric, batting is not necessary. A very difficult and time consuming design! The backing is also white and  that is part of the folded process. This Cathedral Windows are  VERY well sewn by hand. . The back of the quilt is covered with a fine ivory tone on tone 100% cotton print that coordinates with the top of the quilt. The hand quilting density is good, averaging about 100 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The stitching is very good with about 8 stitches per inch.
  • Another new original C Jean Horst design. The reality of life being pictured as a journey seemed to come together when a friend’s husband passed away at an early age with cancer. The watercolor  quilt – the Journey, was designed at that time as a full scale quilt!! Available in queen and king size in this pattern done on a background of my favored Bargello Wave pattern design. This is a beauty of 24 100% quality cotton batiks used for the background pattern and then more added bright batiks in machine appliqué for the butterflies on the quilt top. It is a spectacular coming together of precise piecing, hand applique, and machine quilting. The hand quilting has 8-9 exceptional stitches per inch and notice the theme of butterflies quilted into the quilting design on the middle border AND the batik butterfly print in the outer border! This is certainly an heirloom piece – not your usual quilt. The backing of this quilt is covered with a light ivory batik  fabric of 100% cotton to accent the front side. The documentation label is on the back corner and signed by C Jean Horst in quilter’s pigma pen to save the history. Made in USA
