  • C Jean Horst’s Storm at Sea Quilt vividly depicts the rolling waves of a stormy sea. Surprisingly, the illusion of waves is created by a few geometric shapes – squares, triangles, rectangles and diamonds. Here, C Jean Horst changed the 100 % cotton color pallet to emphasize different elements within the design which resulted in twinkling and stunning stars and wavy lines, creating a new look for an old design. This in an interesting old scriptural-based pattern taken from Mark 4:37-39 NIV where Jesus calms the Storm when he said “Quiet! Be still!” and the wind died down and it was completely calm. Lovely heirloom with the comforting connection to scripture.
