C Jean Horst needed a name for her quilt the same week that her grand daughter was performing as one of the village children in the high school musical, Fiddler on the Roof. Here is a beautiful Queen size Trip Around the World quilt that will remind you of the pastel colors of spring budding trees and flowers. This quilt is great to decorate around with lots of color options. This Colorsplash quilt is using 24 fabrics, cut and sewn so each block is 1 1/2″ square. What a beautiful combination of 24 different soft pastel fabrics selected by C Jean Horst. Sewn by a local Amish woman — note the careful patchwork piecing and the fine quilting.

A 100% beautiful pale tan/yellow cotton covers the back of the quilt shown on one of the photos. The quilting density is more than adequate, averaging about 75 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The stitching is very good with about 8 stitches per inch. The back corner tag has the documentation recorded of the name of the pattern, the maker, the fabric content, the area, and a note about made in America. This is a beauty! A high quality quilt.

The documentation tag is on the back corner and it lists the pattern name, maker, origin, date, fabric content, and made in the USA. Another new original C Jean Horst design. The reality of life being pictured as a journey seemed to come together when a friend’s husband passed away at an early age with cancer. The watercolor wall quilt – the Journey, was designed at that time. And now we have the full size quilts!! Available in queen and king size in this pattern done on a background of my favored Bargello Wave pattern design. This is a beauty of 24 100% quality cotton batiks used for the background pattern and then more added bright batiks in hand appliqué for the butterflies on the quilt top. It is a spectacular coming together of precise piecing, hand applique, and hand quilting. The hand quilting has 8-9 exceptional stitches per inch and notice the theme of butterflies quilted into the quilting design on the middle border AND the batik butterfly print in the outer border! This is certainly an heirloom piece – not your usual quilt.

A very striking Bargello design with extra brilliant Batik style color fast 100 % cotton 25 purple prints selected by C Jean Horst. Note the care taken with the complicated piecing, and the fantastic border fabrics. Both pieced and quilted by an Amish friend and signed and managed by C Jean Horst who designed and selected the fabrics and supplied an accurate pattern for sewing as well as oversaw the steps through the project. She has 32 years of hands on experience

Bargello quilts have been a joy to arrange for years because the blending of fabrics. This quilt has 20 fabrics from light to dark making a stunning arrangement and show of color. This quilt pattern referred to as Bargello Argyle is beautifully designed by Eileen Wright in her book More Twist-and-Turn Bargello Quilts by Martingale. It is reminiscent of the sweaters that were hand knitted in years gone by. It is a perfectly symmetrical quilt that has great eye appeal.

Here is a new fresh quilt rearranged into pinwheels similar to the quilt called Fresh from the book “Simply Retro”. Included with the quilt are two matching queen size pillow shams. The concept of retro means reminiscent of things past which is so fitting with the pinwheels reminding us all of the windmills of the past generation. Here is a gentle reminder of our heritage again in a beautiful hand quilted quilt. Here C Jean Horst used the fabric collections of beautiful grays and whites in 100% cottons!

It takes a very exact piecer to make this quilt.
