  • Late summer is Karel's favorite time of the year and was the inspiration for this fun small quilt.  A sunflower bud and sunflower have been created using the Dresden plate pattern, an appliquéd wool center with french knots and prairie points were added  on the flower.  A bumble bee flies happily around the flower as orange pumpkins sit underneath. The black crow perched on the pumpkin is another detail using wool appliqué.  A combination of machine pieced churn dash and 9-patches blocks were chosen to complete this quilt.  The hand appliqué and quilting  beautifully enhance the design as well. A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature patch  are included on the back.
  • Five Dresden plates set on point are the focal point of this fine traditional quilt. The Dresden plates are machine pieced and then hand appliquéd to the background squares. They are  then framed by Karel's signature triple border and corner squares. Cross-hatching has been hand-quilted on the set-in triangles to create a beautiful diamond design. Civil war reproduction fabrics have been chosen for the unique blue and brown color scheme and with so many different fabrics used it has a vintage feel. A hanging sleeve along with Karel's signature patch are included on the back of this traditional quilt.
  • Log cabin blocks with artfully arranged lights and darks help create the backdrop for this lovely quilt.  A charming little basket of flowers take center stage with butterflies that are flying all around the center. These  have all been carefully hand appliquéd with a touch of hand embroidery by Karel.  Multi colored classic fabrics were the choice for her color scheme.  Notice the outer border she chose incorporates all the colors found in the center of the quilt set on a classic black background. The hand quilting is beautiful and accents the design for the perfect finishing touch. A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
  • Flowers and friendship stars go hand in hand in this original design by Karel.  Her triple signature border and corner squares surround the central floral design.  The floral fabric in the border has a vintage feel with small bouquets and is contrasted by the green checked inner border she used. A variation of the log cabin block works nicely in the corners against the stars and appliqué flowers.  Precise hand-quilting creates a diamond design in each of the triangles that surround the center, along with beautiful appliqué  and the color scheme includes, tan, red, green, and black.
  • Sawtooth stars  with cornerstone blocks have been set on point to create this patriotic small quilt. Notice the gold hand-appliqué stars along with Old Glory that have been used around the outside set-in triangles. The finishing touch is the red "thank you" blocks in each corner making this a wonderful quilt for someone who has served our country. Outside red corner squares have the words "Old Glory" written on it. The whimsical striped binding gives it an extra flair and echos all the colors in the center of the quilt. Thrown over a chair, on the back of your couch or hung on the wall this fine piece will defiantly add  Americana feel to your home.  Don't miss the fine hand-quilting which can especially be seen in the navy border.  A hanging sleeve and signature tag are included on the back of the quilt.
  • The classic Whig Rose appliqué block has been used along with the 8-pointed star block in this design.  The clever placement of light and dark fabrics have created a unique, secondary border design that flows around the blocks .  A lovely floral design is hand-quilted in the other 4 blocks for contrast.  New England red, hunter green, mustard and navy with a touch of black make up this classic color scheme and look wonderful next to the tan and ivory background squares.  The hand quilting is tiny and precise and the appliqué is also beautifully done. A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature patch are included on the back.
  • Do you love pinwheels?  Here's a great original design featuring pinwheels that use 8 different fabrics in them! Both the pinwheel and cornerstone blocks are set on point and the diamonds frame each pinwheel creating a great secondary design. Karel used a lighter background for the pinwheels and a small circle print for the other blocks to help the pinwheels stand apart.  Sweet little tulips sit in each corner while flowers fill in the triangle blocks around the edge.  The quality of the hand appliqué and quilting are easy to observe in this charming small quilt and the floral border is the prefect finish.  A hanging sleeve and Karel"s signature tag are included on the back.
  • Star flowers and berries seem to spring out of a red heart in the center block of Karel's original design called Star Love. Her signature triple border and corner squares nicely frame the block.  Take note of the fine hand quilting in the triangles that form a diamond design to showcase the center and also the beautifully done hand appliqué throughout.  The star block called "Sarah's Choice" and a variation on log cabin blocks flank each side of the star and berries border.  Karel enjoys mixing many different fabrics in her quilts to give them a "scrappy" look and this quilt is a great example of that.  A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
  • A graceful floral wreath is the focal point of this stunning small quilt. Tulips, buds and flowers are combined in a pleasing arrangement with corner appliqué blocks radiating out from the center design.  The ribbon star blocks make a bold statement as they frame the central wreath and next comes a checkerboard border just to set it all off.  Karel chose to use civil war reproduction quilts because the tiny prints lend themselves so well to the small appliqué pieces.  The variety of prints include stripes, florals and geometrics that add extra interest to the design.  As you can see from the border, the hand-quilting is beautiful as well.  A hanging sleeve as well as Karel's signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
  • Who doesn't love a cute birdhouse in the summertime? A black eyed susan vine climbs up the post of this birdhouse while a white sheep stands along side.  Notice the sweet little heart being held in the sheep's mouth and the butterfly that is flying in the center of the quilt.  The scrolling quilting design in the border seems to echo the climbing vine for a nice finish of this quilt.   Precise hand appliqué has been combined with the patchwork blocks in this lovely piece. A hanging sleeve along with Karel's signature patch is included on the back.
