Log cabin blocks using half light and half dark logs have been artfully arranged in this fun quilt featuring a baby elephant at the center of the design.  The color scheme of yellows, grays and  whites were used in this new take on a traditional pattern.  The hand appliquéd circles with stars and the baby elephant have been nicely done with hand quilting that compliments the overall pattern.  Workmanship has been beautifully  done and this special piece would  look wonderful hung in a nursery or as a special child’s blanket.

A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

  • Star flowers and berries seem to spring out of a red heart in the center block of Karel's original design called Star Love. Her signature triple border and corner squares nicely frame the block.  Take note of the fine hand quilting in the triangles that form a diamond design to showcase the center and also the beautifully done hand appliqué throughout.  The star block called "Sarah's Choice" and a variation on log cabin blocks flank each side of the star and berries border.  Karel enjoys mixing many different fabrics in her quilts to give them a "scrappy" look and this quilt is a great example of that.  A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
  • Who doesn't love a cute birdhouse in the summertime? A black eyed susan vine climbs up the post of this birdhouse while a white sheep stands along side.  Notice the sweet little heart being held in the sheep's mouth and the butterfly that is flying in the center of the quilt.  The scrolling quilting design in the border seems to echo the climbing vine for a nice finish of this quilt.   Precise hand appliqué has been combined with the patchwork blocks in this lovely piece. A hanging sleeve along with Karel's signature patch is included on the back.
  • Here is a quilt just perfect for a smaller space in your home.   The log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel's because there is no end to the ways you can lay out the blocks. In this quilt the light logs create a great background for the autumnal pumpkins with their vines and leaves while the dark logs create a frame around them.  1" logs have been used to create a scrappy feel and give the opportunity for many earthtone fabrics to be used.  A soft green fabric with floating leaves has been used as the border to frame this quilt.  The hand quilting and appliqué are beautifully done as well. A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature tag are included on the back of the quilt.
