This original design was inspired by wonderful memories of summer days spent on Grandpa’s farms as a little girl.  Using a Sawtooth star block to frame the the whimsical farm animals is a nice design choice.  The animals and accent elements of the barn have each been done with wool appliqué.  From the plump pig to the chick that is newly hatched, the attention to detail make this a very special quilt.  Karel enjoys combining both wool and cotton fabrics which adds dimension and interest to this quilt.

A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch have been included on the back.

    A graceful floral wreath is the focal point of this stunning small quilt.     5 Dresden plates set on point and are the focal point of this fine traditional quilt.  The Dresden plates are machine pieced and then hand appliquéd to each of the background squares.  They are surrounded by Karel’s signature triple border and corner squares.  Cross-hatching has been hand-quilted on the set in triangles to create a small diamond design.  Many different fabrics were used to create the petals on each plate which adds lots of interest.  A fabric featuring flowers in all the colors set on a back background is the perfect finish on this piece.

    A  hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature tag are included on the back of this show stopping quilt.

    A whimsical pumpkin with leaves and primitive stars set on circles are in the center of log cabin blocks in this warm fall quilt.  The traditonal log cabin pattern has always been a favorite of Karel’s and the clever placement of light and dark logs create a pleasing background for the appliqué.  Small 1″ logs have been used and give opportunity for many earth tone fabrics to be used which create a nice scrappy effect.  The floral border print is a perfect frame to finish the quilt and the appliqué and hand quilting are beautifully done in this fun quilt.
