This original design was inspired by wonderful memories of summer days spent on Grandpa’s farms as a little girl.  Using a Sawtooth star block to frame the the whimsical farm animals is a nice design choice.  The animals and accent elements of the barn have each been done with wool appliqué.  From the plump pig to the chick that is newly hatched, the attention to detail make this a very special quilt.  Karel enjoys combining both wool and cotton fabrics which adds dimension and interest to this quilt.

A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch have been included on the back.

    Sawtooth stars  with cornerstone blocks have been set on point to create this patriotic small quilt. Notice the gold hand-appliqué stars along with Old Glory that have been used around the outside set-in triangles. The finishing touch is the red “thank you” blocks in each corner making this a wonderful quilt for someone who has served our country.     An enchanting  flower garden featuring 5 zinnias is the theme of this original small quilt by Karel. The design was inspired by a memory of the colorful, long row of Zinnias that her Grandma planted in her garden each summer.  It features 5 Dresden plates in 3 different sizes with wool for each of their centers.  Special attention to detail went into the hand embroidery in each flower with handmade stems and leaves in green plaids and florals.  Buds, a butterfly and a bumble bee  play among friendship stars in the neutral background blocks and a tan floral border was chosen to frame the quilt perfectly and contrasts with the multi colored inner border.

    A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch is included on the back of the quilt.

    Log cabin blocks with artfully arranged lights and darks help create the backdrop for this lovely quilt.  A charming little basket of flowers take center stage with butterflies that are flying all around the center. These  have all been carefully hand appliquéd with a touch of hand embroidery by Karel.  Multi colored classic fabrics were the choice for her color scheme.  Notice the outer border she chose incorporates all the colors found in the center of the quilt set on a classic black background. The hand quilting is beautiful and accents the design for the perfect finishing touch.
