It is hard to imagine that patchwork quilts could be so wondrously varied in design and coloring as they are here in Lancaster. While some traditional Amish designs are made to be reproductions of 18th and 19th Century quilts, most quilts are created with goal of being more lovely than what was made before. Consequently there are many differing and unique renditions of even the most traditional patchwork patterns.
Many of the quilts shown here are marked indicating that they are “available now” for shipment –we are usually able to ship quilts so marked no later than the next business day. Other quilts shown have been sold, but often we are able to find a very similar well-made quilt that can be shipped quickly. Alternatively we can arrange for a similar quilt to be custom made.

Sharp! Excellent coloring, great rendition of classic log cabin design. Well made by a local Mennonite woman. Nicely quilted and carefully pieced. Fabrics used are remnants from quilts she made over the past 25 years. Because the quilt is made of remnants and scraps there is no other quilt just like this one, this is a one and only!!!

A Fresh quilt from the book Simply Retro using classic blocks – the half square triangle. The concept of “retro” is pretty wonderful; it means “reminiscent of things past.” Isn’t that appropriate for quilting? Here C Jean Horst is using fresh, modern fabrics and it makes a traditional block feel “new” again. This quilt called Fresh is my favorite pattern from the book Simply Retro with Camille Roskelley. It includes 2 pieced and hand quilted Pillow Shams as shown in the photographs. The feather quilted circles in the quilt accent well with the straight line quilting designs through the blocks making it a very homey and cozy quilt for a good looking bedroom. Fabrics are all 100% quality cotton and the hand quilting has 8 – 9 stitches per inch. Looks great with little white pillow – not included. More pillows would be lovely.

Features fabrics that are current and from years gone by. This quilt has almost 4,000 small squares in it . Precisely pieced by a Amish widow lady and quilted by another Amish woman. Border consists of deep burgundy, followed by soft tone on tone and finished with a dark navy print.

A beautiful and fresh practical change for a log cabin quilt! Here Jean has used her batiks in teals, blues and paprikas to make a striking but simple log cabin. She has made a popular quilt pattern very unique with her choice of batiks. While each patch is different, all blocks are working together beautifully to show off an awesome collection of 100% quilter’s cotton batiks. She also has a documentation tag on the back corner which gives the name of the quilt, the maker, the location, the date, and the fabric content as well as a note “made in the USA.”
