    Wooly sheep and saw tooth stars have been combined with a fun block called “this and that” in this original small quilt. The wool sheep are appliquéd onto the background using the button hole stitch which is all done by hand. The graceful willow tree in the center block has been created using lots of hand embroidery stitches as a sheep stands underneath holding a sweet little heart. Fabric prints were carefully selected and include stripes and small florals. Karel loves combining touches of wool fabrics along with cottons in this special quilt along with fine hand-quilting.
    A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    Stars, flowers and berries seem to spring out of a red heart in the center block of Karel’s original design called Star Flower. Her signature triple border and corner squares nicely frame the center block. Take note of the fine hand quilting in the triangles around the center design as well as the beautiful hand appliqué throughout the design. The traditional pieced star block is called Sarah’s choice and a variation of the log cabin block flank each side of the star and berries border. Karel enjoys mixing many different fabrics in her quilts to give them a “scrappy” look and this quilt is a great example of that.
    A hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

    This stunning new quilt was inspired by Karel’s favorite time of the year, late summer, and all the beauty of flowers in her yard. From sunflowers to zinnias, warm hues in golds, reds, oranges and plums play well together. The flowers are wool and are embellished with embroidery stitching with a Dresden plate at the very center. To create added interest, she used a number of different neutral prints for the center background square. The quilt is bordered in a green printed fabric to symbolize the color of leaves and how well this color goes with all the colors in nature. A hanging sleeve along with Karel’s signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.

A 9-patch block has been used for its simplicity against the star blocks and you can tell by looking at the star points that Karel took her time to make sure each one was pieced accurately.The addition of circular quilting in the center of the 9-patches helps to soften the pattern. The floral border fabric set against a warm brown background completes the look. The versatility of a sofa throw size means you can throw it over a chair, the back of a sofa or fold it across the foot of your bed so it’s always ready to cuddle up in.
