  • Scrappy Stars sofa throw is a delightful quilt that Karel has finished just in time for the autumn season. Picture yourself cuddled up in this quilt when cooler weather arrives.  The wonky stars with small 9-patches at the center of each one are made up mostly from fun scraps.  Using a mixture of light and dark neutral background squares gives the design added interest as well.  The appeal of sofa throws are the versatile ways you can use them. Fold it across the back or a sofa, across the foot of a bed or on a chair, it will add charm to any room.  The pieceing is precise and the hand quilting is beautiful in this warm, inviting quilt. Karel's signature patch is included on the back.
  • Five Dresden plates set on point are the focal point of this fine traditional quilt. The Dresden plates are machine pieced and then hand appliquéd to the background squares. They are  then framed by Karel's signature triple border and corner squares. Cross-hatching has been hand-quilted on the set-in triangles to create a beautiful diamond design. Civil war reproduction fabrics have been chosen for the unique blue and brown color scheme and with so many different fabrics used it has a vintage feel. A hanging sleeve along with Karel's signature patch are included on the back of this traditional quilt.
  • Star flowers and berries seem to spring out of a red heart in the center block of Karel's original design called Star Love. Her signature triple border and corner squares nicely frame the block.  Take note of the fine hand quilting in the triangles that form a diamond design to showcase the center and also the beautifully done hand appliqué throughout.  The star block called "Sarah's Choice" and a variation on log cabin blocks flank each side of the star and berries border.  Karel enjoys mixing many different fabrics in her quilts to give them a "scrappy" look and this quilt is a great example of that.  A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
  • A graceful floral wreath is the focal point of of this stunning small quilt. Tulips, buds and flowers are combined in a pleasing arrangement with corner appliqué bocks radiating out from the center design.  The ribbon star blocks make a bold statement as they frame the central wreath and next comes a checkerboard border just to set it all off.  Karel chose to use civil war reproduction quilts because the tiny prints lend themselves so well to the small appliqué pieces.  The variety of prints include stripes, florals and geometrics that add extra interest to the design.  As you can see from the border, the hand-quilting is beautiful as well.  A hanging sleeve as well as Karel's signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
  • This happy small quilt was inspired by Karel's love of butterflies in her garden during the summer.  The blue and yellow color scheme is reminicent of sunshine and the blue skies.  Morning Glories wind their way around the butterfly house and have hand embroidered  french knots in the center of each flower.  Friendship stars and 9-patch blocks are featured with a yellow butterfly flying amongst them.  The hand quilting and appliqué are expertly done in this cheerful quilt. A hanging sleeve along with Karel's signature patch are included on the back.
  • An enchanting  flower garden featuring 5 zinnias is the theme of this original small quilt by Karel. The design was inspired by a memory of the colorful, long row of Zinnias that her Grandma planted in her garden each summer.  It features 5 Dresden plates in 3 different sizes with wool for each of their centers.  Special attention to detail went into the hand embroidery in each flower with handmade stems and leaves in green plaids and florals.  Buds, a butterfly and a bumble bee  play among friendship stars in the neutral background blocks and a tan floral border was chosen to frame the quilt perfectly and contrasts with the multi colored inner border. A hanging sleeve along with Karel's signature patch is included on the back of the quilt.
  • Wooly sheep and saw tooth stars are combined with a fun block called "this and that" in this original small quilt.  The wool sheep are appliquéd onto the background using the button hole stitch which is all done by hand.  The graceful willow tree in the central block has been created using lots more embroidery as a sheep stands underneath holding a sweet little heart.  Fabric prints were carefully selected and includes stripes, and small florals. Karel loves combining touches of wool fabrics with 100% cottons in this special piece.  Don't miss the fine quilting especially noticeable in the border. A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature patch are included on the back. NOTE: Pictured pillow is not included and is available as an add-on.
  • Patchwork Americana is a great addition to any patriotic decor.  Six patchwork blocks are arranged with the 4 appliqué blocks to create this pleasing original  design. Half square triangles, hour glass and checkerboards  add interest to this quilt.  Stars and strips are repeated both in appliqué and fabrics throughout the design. Don't miss the pinwheel block in the center that features a small handmade yo yo and button. The small "Thank You" block right under the heart makes this a special gift for someone who has served our country.  A fun pieced inner border and red star outside border frame the whole quilt for a nice finish.  Quilting and appliqué are expertly done as well. A hanging sleeve along with Karel's signature patch are included on the back of the quilt.
  • Here is one of Karel's classic original designs, the trumpet flower,  and it has always been a customer favorite.  Winding trumpet flowers, vines and leaves are surrounded by 5 1/2" log cabin blocks and primitive stars in each of the 4 corners.  Multi colored fabrics have been used in warm, country colors that give it a "scrappy" look as well.  Karel is known for incorporating many different fabric prints in her designs along with hand quilting and appliqué that are expertly done. A hanging sleeve along with Karel's signature tag are included on the back.
