  • A classic color palette was chosen for this charming original Starberry design.  Using pieced background log cabin blocks for the center background was a creative choice.  Stars and berries with a center flower are beautifully appliquéd along with precise piecing on the corner log cabin and 54-40 or fight star blocks.  Hand-quilted diamonds called cross-hatching have been done on the floral fabric triangles surrounding the center block. All the elements of this design come together in such a delightful way on this classic quilt. A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature patch are included on the back.
  • Hollyhocks and a bluebird play nicely together with flowers and buds alongside some of Karel's favorite pieced blocks including a log cabin, churn dash, Ohio star, and pinwheel in this original design. Hour glass, and triangle borders meander among the blocks as creative borders. The quilt uses classic colors in this attractive original design.  The lovely, green floral fabric used in the border compliments the quilt's fabrics so well.   • This happy small quilt was inspired by Karel's love of butterflies in her flower garden during the summer. The blue and yellow color scheme is reminiscent of sunshine and blue skies.  Morning glories wind their way around the butterfly house and have hand embroidered french knots in the center of each flower. Friendship stars and 9-patch blocks are featured with a yellow and blue butterfly amongst them. The hand quilting and appliqué  are expertly done in this cheerful quilt.   • Karel was thinking spring when she created this original design with hopping bunnies and a bluebird perched on the branch over a birdbath.  Tulips and a daffodil are welcome signs that spring has arrived along with flower pots all ready for planting. A white sheep holds a small wool heart in his mouth a corner block. Don't miss the bunny tails and ears that feature wool appliquéd pieces for added texture.  Pieced blocks including trip around the world, Sarah's choice, 8-pointed star which are some of Karel's favorites.   • This delightful quilt came about as a result of Karel's love of Dresden Plates, and stars and  including many fabrics to create a scrappy look.   The floral wreath in the center has been surrounded with appliquéd  Dresden Plates and pieced 8-pointed stars which are a charming frame for a center appliqué flower. For added interest, Karel chose to use different fabrics in the sashing surrounding the blocks for a scrappy look.  Note the different background fabrics used in the blocks as well. A green print was chosen for the outer border to echo the color of leaves in nature. The piecing is precise and the appliqué and hand-quilting are  beautiful in this special quilt. A hanging sleeve along with Karel's signature patch is included on the back.
  • Charming snowmen seem to be waving hello in Karel's original design, Patchwork Snowman, a quilt that can be displayed from December right through till spring.  The color palette includes tan, gray and blue with backgrounds of ivory and cream that create a primitive feel to the quilt.  The hand appliqué is beautiful especially in the cutouts on the snowflake block.  The carefully pieced blocks include the friendship star, pinwheel, churn dash, Ohio star, log cabin and cornerstone with hourglass and sawtooth borders to add interest. A dark navy border features tiny stars and is a fitting frame to complete the look. A hanging sleeve and Karel's signature patch are included on the back of this quilt.
  • Five Dresden plates set on point are the focus of this fine traditional quilt. The Dresden plates are machine pieced and then hand appliquéd to each of the background squares. They are surrounded by Karel’s signature triple borders and corner squares.  Cross-hatching has been hand quilted on the set in triangles and creates a diamond design.   Many different fabrics were used on each plate which adds lots of interest.  A small floral blue print was used for the border for the perfect finish on this beautiful quilt. a hanging sleeve and Karel’s signature patch are included on the back.
  • A perky red Cardinal is at the center of this log cabin charming, Christmas quilt.  The log cabin blocks have been artfully arranged using lights and darks to create the backdrop for this festive holiday piece.  Hand appliquéd pinecones and hand embroidered pine needles add to the seasonal feeling as well.  Look closely at all the fun fabrics that Karel incorporates to create the logs for the blocks.  Small hand quilted stitches add to the beauty of this original design with small pine boughs and berries on the red border fabric.   • Winter mittens on strings twirl around a spunky snowman at the center of this winter themed quilt.  The artful way in which Karel arranges the light and dark logs create a wonderful background for this whimsical  pattern.  Notice the many winter and snow fabrics that went into the making of this quilt!  The hand quilting is very nicely done and enhances the overall design of the pieces along with neatly done appliqué.  The pattern of the blue border fabric was a great choice to finish it too.   • Log cabin quilts are a traditional favorite of Karel's and on this design she added charming wool appliqué flowers, stars and berries applied with a button hole stitch and other embroidered details.  The clever arrangement of log cabin blocks enhances the design and warm classic country prints were chosen to complete the look.  The dark navy floral border was a nice choice to frame this quilt.
