Patchwork Quilts

It is hard to imagine that patchwork quilts could be so wondrously varied in design and coloring as they are here in Lancaster. While some traditional Amish designs are made to be reproductions of 18th and 19th Century quilts, most quilts are created with goal of being more lovely than what was made before. Consequently there are many differing and unique renditions of even the most traditional patchwork patterns.

Many of the quilts shown here are marked indicating that they are “available now” for shipment –we are usually able to ship quilts so marked no later than the next business day. Other quilts shown have been sold, but often we are able to find a very similar well-made quilt that can be shipped quickly. Alternatively we can arrange for a similar quilt to be custom made.

Take your time looking through our galleries, there is a lot to see. We try to show respects for the quilts and the quilters by properly showing them.

  • Sophisticated, subtle patchwork in sage to ivory tones with 43 prints specially selected by C Jean Horst. The patchwork is made up of over 6000 carefully sewn one inch cotton fabric sqaures. Lovely and amazing. Made here in Lancaster by an Amish woman. This quilt is symmetric and may be used sideways on a king size bed. Signed in ink on back by C Jean Horst.

All her quilts are American made and have a documentation label sewing into the back corner with the name of the quilt, maker, date, fabric content.

This patchwork is made up of over 6205 postage stamp size pieces. Lovely and amazing. Made here in Lancaster by an Amish woman. This quilt is signed in pigma pen ink on an attached label on the back by C Jean Horst. All Jean’s quilts are American made and have a documentation label sewn into the back corner with the name of the quilt, quilter’s name, 100% fabric content and Made in USA.
  • A queen size quilt that has an excellent combination of skills. It is an original design by C Jean Horst, using needle turn appliqué, machine piecing, decorative hand quilting and great 100% quilters cotton fabrics in shades of plums, and greens in a tasteful combination. An amazing design by Lancaster’s renowned designer. Note the abundance of quilting surrounding the focal center applique work. The background fabric is a fine light tan print. Quilted by an Amish friend. Signed and dated by its designer. Copyright pattern — no directions are available. A fine ivory tone on tone 100% cotton fabric covers the back of the quilt. The quilting density is very good, averaging about 130 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The stitching is very good with about 8-9 stitches per inch. The quilt has a small documentation tag sewn into the back side of the quilt documenting the maker, fabric content, date, name of pattern, and a note about being made in America, quilted by an Amish friend. Excellent choice!
