It is hard to imagine that patchwork quilts could be so wondrously varied in design and coloring as they are here in Lancaster. While some traditional Amish designs are made to be reproductions of 18th and 19th Century quilts, most quilts are created with goal of being more lovely than what was made before. Consequently there are many differing and unique renditions of even the most traditional patchwork patterns.
Many of the quilts shown here are marked indicating that they are “available now” for shipment –we are usually able to ship quilts so marked no later than the next business day. Other quilts shown have been sold, but often we are able to find a very similar well-made quilt that can be shipped quickly. Alternatively we can arrange for a similar quilt to be custom made.

Here is a beautiful King size Trip Around the World quilt. This pattern is similar to the Postage Stamp quilts that have 36 fabrics and patches cut and sewn leaving a 1 ” block. This Colorsplash quilt is using 24 fabrics, cut and sewn so each block is 1 1/2″ square making this more economical to make. What a beautiful slate blue and gold vintage combination of 24 different fabrics selected by C Jean Horst. Made by a local Amish woman — note the careful patchwork piecing and the fine quilting. This quilt is symmetric meaning all borders are equal on all 4 sides. Makes a stunning quilt to hang.

Sunrise, Sunset, Sunrise, Sunset — Lyrics to the Fiddler on the Roof seems to fit this new amazing new quilt’s beautiful arrangement of the sky’s coloring from day to night. “Seedlings turn overnight to flowers, one season following another, laden with happiness and tears.” C Jean Horst needed a name for her quilt the same week that her grand daughter was performing as one of the village children in the high school musical, Fiddler on the Roof. Storm at Sea
$1,495The Storm at Sea vividly depicts the rolling waves of a stormy sea. Surprisingly, the illusion of waves is created by a few geometric shapes – squares, triangles, rectangles and diamonds. Here, C Jean Horst changed the color pallet to emphasize different elements within the design which resulted in twinkling and stunning stars and wavy lines, creating a new look for an old design. This in an interesting old scriptural-based pattern taken from Mark 4:37-39 NIV where Jesus calms the Storm when he said “Quiet! Be still!” and the wind died down and it was completely calm. Lovely heirloom with comforting history of the pattern.
