Applique Patchwork Combos

Grandmother’s Flower Garden pattern is one of the most beloved of all vintage quilt patterns! These old quilts can be found many places, but very few new ones are being made.  A quilt like this could be a cheerful reminder of lovely flower gardens and a much needed lift during hard times. Note how well the light cream background print sets off the other fabrics. Nicely made by a Lancaster County Amish woman. This quilt is symmetric and may be used sideways on King size bed. The back of the quilt is covered with a cream solid 100% cotton fabric.  The quilting density is good, averaging about 100 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The hand quilting is wonderful with 8 tiny stitches per inch.

This Cathedral Window is a gorgeous, timeless heirloom! It captures the inspiration of a beautiful church window, allowing us to have a little part of a cathedral in our homes, especially if you hold it up to the light. This is not the same as a traditional quilt as it has no batting- with so many layers of folded fabric, batting is not necessary. A very difficult and time consuming design! The backing is also muslin that is part of the folded process. This Cathedral Window quilt is VERY well sewn by machine. The quilt is finished beautifully with triangles on the edges.
