Irish Chain quilts are known to have been made in Lancaster since the early 1800’s. While this quilt doesn’t look at all old fashioned, the choice of fabrics, the quilting pattern, and the border are all similar to Irish Chain Quilts made in Lancaster in the early 20th Centuries. Note the wonderful prints, and the care taken in the quilting and piecework. Made by a local Amish woman.
