    This is a brand new quilt arranged by C Jean Horst that is so exquisite with its hundreds of yards of hand quilting thread – this one has 693 yards of hand quilting with 8-9 stitches per inch – roughly 200,000 stitches!!!   Really !!   It is exceptionally heavily hand quilted with feathers – large and small, and also a charming and beautiful heavily quilted border design. The beautiful blue print and the eggshell  background, even though it is a tiny tone on tone 100% quilter’s cotton print, shows up all the stitches and designs so nicely. While being a traditional patchwork pattern, Jean has transformed it into an heirloom quality quilt due to the exceptional yardage of hand quilting displaying feather circles and feather plumes. The backing is also 100% quilters cotton eggshell like used on the top side.   There are 8-9 stitches of hand quilting per inch of this quilt.  Magnificent.

Look closely and you will see that the border has borrowed 1/4 of the star parts from the center design to dance around its outside edges on all 4 sides.  Magnificent design that is simply beautiful. 100% cotton fabrics in the entire quilt. The added documentation on the back corner tag makes this an heirloom piece. Appliqued by hand in America. Quilted by hand in America by our Amish friend.     The Storm at Sea vividly depicts the rolling waves of a stormy sea. Surprisingly, the illusion of waves is created by a few geometric shapes – squares, triangles, rectangles and diamonds. Here, C Jean Horst changed the color pallet to emphasize different elements within the design which resulted in twinkling and stunning stars and wavy lines, creating a new look for an old design. This in an interesting old scriptural-based pattern taken from Mark 4:37-39 NIV where Jesus calms the Storm when he said “Quiet! Be still!” and the wind died down and it was completely calm. Lovely heirloom with comforting history of this pattern.
