It is exceptionally heavily hand quilted with feathers - large and small, and also a charming and beautiful heavily quilted border design. The cream background, even though it is a tiny tone on tone 100% quilter's cotton print, shows up all the stitches and designs so nicely. While being a traditional patchwork pattern, Jean has transformed it into an heirloom quality quilt due to the exceptional yardage of hand quilting displayed.

  • Sunrise, Sunset, Sunrise, Sunset -- Lyrics to the Fiddler on the Roof seems to fit this new amazing new quilt's beautiful arrangement of the sky's coloring from day to night. "Seedlings turn overnight to flowers, one season following another, laden with happiness and tears." C Jean Horst needed a name for her quilt the same week that her grand daughter was performing as one of the village children in the high school musical, Fiddler on the Roof. Imagine a quilt to depict the cycles of life! "What words of wisdom can I give them, How can I help to ease their way."
  • Here is a beautiful Queen size Trip Around the World quilt that will remind you of the ocean's surf. This quilt is great to decorate around the colors of a steal blue or a brighter teal!! This pattern is similar to the Postage Stamp quilts that have 36 fabrics and patches cut and sewn leaving a 1 " block. This Colorsplash quilt is using 24 fabrics, cut and sewn so each block is 1 1/2" square making this more economical to sew. What a beautiful combination of 24 different blues in batik fabrics selected by C Jean Horst. Sewn by a local Amish woman -- note the careful patchwork piecing and the fine quilting. This quilt is symmetric meaning all borders are equal on all 4 sides. Makes a stunning quilt to hang.
  • An amazing quilt with beautiful fresh deep colored batik fabrics selected by C Jean Horst. • Another new original C Jean Horst design. The reality of life being pictured as a journey seemed to come together when a friend's husband passed away at an early age with cancer. The watercolor wall quilt - the Journey, was designed at that time. And now we have the full size quilts!! Available in queen and king size in this pattern done on a background of my favored Bargello Wave pattern design. This is a beauty of 24 100% quality cotton batiks used for the background pattern and then more added bright batiks in hand appliqué for the butterflies on the quilt top. It is a spectacular coming together of precise piecing, hand applique, and hand quilting. The hand quilting has 8 exceptional stitches per inch and notice the theme of butterflies quilted into the quilting design on the teal middle border too. This is certainly an heirloom piece - not your usual quilt.

  • Beautiful and interesting! This quilt is sized to turn across a king bed and still have a really good drop on both sides and fit flat at the pillow end. On a queen bed, it would be turned longways and have a good pillow tuck as show on the photos. Blues, neutrals and brown tones make this classic/vintage look Tumbling Blocks a winner. Another wonderful creation of C Jean Horst. Excellent patchwork piecing and lots of fine quilting. Made by Lancaster County Amish woman and has a corner tag on the backing that documents the makers and the 100% cotton fabric content as well as the origin and made in America.

  • This quilt is a traditional Log Cabin quilt block done with a unique fussy cut centers. It is made entirely from popular designer Kaffe Fassett's line of fabrics - both top and backing of the quilt. The fabrics are 100% cotton but are softer than any other manufacturer of quilters cottons that we know of. We also enjoyed making matching pillow shams to work along with the log cabin patch quilt. This colorful quilt will go with a varied number of color schemes and is bright and creates a carefree look. The white pillow is not included but creates another look if you add more of your own pillows. A note about fussy cut -- each square for the center of each block was cut one at a time by centering a clear plexiglass template on the fabric to see through to the flower - thus centering the unique flower in the middle of each block. Gorgeous.

  • Cathedral window quilts have a unique and fascinating construction method, unlike any other quilt. Instead of layers of backing and batting and a pieced top, they are traditionally constructed of squares of muslin, folded into several layers and hand sewn together. On top of this base, gracefully curving bias folds are turned and stitched to make "frames" over inserts of colorful fabric "windows". This is an amazingly beautiful dimensional quilt that has been hand stitched. Because of the detail and the folding, it is not suitable for hand quilting. The layers are much to thick for that. And so the backing is also muslin that is part of the folded process. These quilts were made in the early days of quilt making in our country, but it is very unusual to find this pattern well done, hand made, and this beautiful in quilts of todays selections.
  • An heirloom all natural quilt in queen size is a wonderful quilt to own. Holding their value, there is a beautifully quilted design of feathers and central medallion star along with cross hatching and a magnificently done border of scallops. It is a 100 % cotton muslin quilt top and quilt back and binding. A real showcase of Amish hand quilting for a stunning vintage look and an heirloom at it's best! Lovely show stopper. This quilt has 1140 yards of fine hand quilting which equals approximately 328,320 hand quilted stitches!! Imagine that patience.!! Signed and dated.
