Another new original C Jean Horst design. The reality of life being pictured as a journey seemed to come together when a friend’s husband passed away at an early age with cancer. The watercolor quilt – the Journey, was designed at that time as a full scale quilt!! Available in queen and king size in this pattern done on a background of my favored Bargello Wave pattern design. This is a beauty of 24 100% quality cotton batiks used for the background pattern and then more added bright batiks in machine appliqué for the butterflies on the quilt top. It is a spectacular coming together of precise piecing, hand applique, and machine quilting. The hand quilting has 8-9 exceptional stitches per inch and notice the theme of butterflies quilted into the quilting design on the middle border AND the batik butterfly print in the outer border! This is certainly an heirloom piece – not your usual quilt. The backing of this quilt is covered with a light ivory batik fabric of 100% cotton to accent the front side. The documentation label is on the back corner and signed by C Jean Horst in quilter’s pigma pen to save the history. Made in USA

An amazing design by Lancaster’s renowned designer. Note the abundance of quilting surrounding the focal center applique work. The background fabric are all in shades of neutrals. Quilted by an Amish friend. Signed and dated by its designer. Copyright pattern — no directions are available. A fine tan print 100% cotton fabric covers the back of the quilt. The quilting density is very good, averaging about 130 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The stitching is very good with about 9 stitches per inch. The quilt has a small documentation tag sewn into the back side of the quilt documenting the maker, fabric content, date, name of pattern, and a note about being made in America, quilted by an Amish friend. This Cathedral Window is a gorgeous, timeless heirloom! It captures the inspiration of a beautiful church window, allowing us to have a little part of a cathedral in our homes, especially if you hold it up to the light. This is not the same as a traditional quilt as it has no batting- with so many layers of folded fabric, batting is not necessary. A very difficult and time consuming design! The backing is also muslin that is part of the folded process. This Cathedral Window quilt is VERY well sewn by machine. The quilt is finished beautifully with triangles on the edges.
