This Cathedral Window is a gorgeous work of art done in all sage greens on white and a timeless heirloom! It captures the inspiration of a beautiful church window and allows us to relive our past grandmother’s quilts as this is a very old pattern. This is not the same as a traditional quilt as it has no batting- with so many layers of folded fabric, batting is not necessary. A very difficult and time consuming design! The backing is also white and that is part of the folded process. This Cathedral Windows are VERY well sewn by hand. . The quilt is finished beautifully with triangles on the edges. A beautiful version of the Bargello pattern that makes you feel like you’re looking through a kalidascope. Note the care taken with the challenging patchwork piecing. Made by an Amish woman here in Lancaster County, PA. The back of the quilt is covered with a cream 100% cotton fabric. The quilting density is good, averaging about 100 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The hand quilting is wonderful with 8 tiny stitches per inch.
