This Cathedral Window is a gorgeous, timeless heirloom! It captures the inspiration of a beautiful church window, allowing us to have a little part of a cathedral in our homes, especially if you hold it up to the light. This is not the same as a traditional quilt as it has no batting- with so many layers of folded fabric, batting is not necessary. A very difficult and time consuming design! The backing is also muslin that is part of the folded process. This Cathedral Window quilt is VERY well sewn by machine. The quilt is finished beautifully with triangles on the edges. Pictured on a queen size bed using queen size pillows.

Note the care taken with the patchwork piecing, colorful fabrics and quilting. The border is dark green with golden flecks. A VERY nice quilt made by a Lancaster County Amish woman. The back of the quilt is covered with an off white 100% cotton print. The quilting density is good, averaging about 100 linear inches of stitching per square foot. The hand quilting is wonderful with 8 tiny stitches per inch.

This quilt is a white-on-white log cabin pieced quilt, with drawn roses and leaves on the pathways that serve as the quilting motif. The log cabin blocks are made with white-on-white fabrics and premium white muslin. There are roses along the pathways, and across the top of the quilt that serve as the pillow covering when the bed is made. A short spray of roses are on the bottom of the quilt border as well. The borders are quilted in diagonal lines that add more interest to the quilt. The quilting stitches are delicate and tiny, and the binding is made with white muslin. There are many happy hours of quilting it. The backing is solid white premium muslin. The quilt measures 95 inches wide and 108 inches in length. It is shown on a queen bed.
