Stars and Striped fabrics are combined in this charming, red, white and blue patriotic quilt. Four patchwork hearts are framed with a small red diamond border. Stars, flowers and berries seem to spring out of a red heart in the center block of Karel’s original design called Star Flower. Her signature triple border and corner squares nicely frame the center block. Take note of the fine hand quilting in the triangles around the center design as well as the beautiful hand appliqué throughout the design. The traditional pieced star block is called Sarah’s choice and a variation of the log cabin block flank each side of the star and berries border. Karel enjoys mixing many different fabrics in her quilts to give them a “scrappy” look and this quilt is a great example of that. The Wheels on the Bus song is what inspired this fun children’s quilt which features a sunny yellow bus in the center. Whimsical cars and a pick up truck, done in cheerful colors with embroidered details surround the bus. The pattern feature bright colored patchwork which frame the hand appliquéd blocks. The border fabric echos the cars and bus as the children on bikes and jumping rope ride around the border. This playful quilt is ready to become a child’s beloved snuggle blanket right now.
